  • Dr Prasad has been an active & founder member of the Indian Chapter of the International Hepato Pancreato Biliary Association. He has attended and been invited as faculty at various national and international conferences. He has delivered interesting lectures on topics related to various hepato pancreatic biliary & gastrointestinal surgeries.
  • He was awarded for the best scientific paper presentation on Pancreaticoduodenectomy for Periampullary tumors at MASICON 2001, Pune.
  • He has witnessed the live demonstration of Whipple’s procedure as a chairperson at the first National HPB Workshop & Conference, Indian Chapter of IHPBA, at the Tata Memorial Hospital.

• Dr Prasad Wagle has completed his graduation from T.N.Medical College & B.Y.L.Nair Hospital, Mumbai. He further pursued his Masters from the same Institute in 1993.
• He then worked as a senior registrar in gastrointestinal surgery for a year at the same institute. He sharpened his surgical skills at Tata Memorial Hospital for a year working as a registrar in oncosurgery.
• In 1996 Dr Prasad joined Nair Hospital as a lecturer. Hepatobiliary & Pancreatic surgery became his major interest & in an endeavor to gain better experience, in 1998 he joined The University of Hamburg Hospital in Germany as a Clinical Fellow and worked in the pancreatic and liver units including transplant surgery.


• Dr Prasad has worked extensively in the management of obstructive jaundice, both benign & malignant over the last 19 years. He has an experience of more than 800 major hepato- biliary and pancreatic surgeries, including liver resections for malignant and benign diseases.
• His vast surgical experience extends to hepatico-jejunostomies for benign & malignant bile duct strictures including those for post cholecystectomy bile duct injuries, pancreatic debridement for necrosis, Whipple's pancreaticoduodenectomies for periampullary and pancreatic cancers, surgeries for chronic pancreatitis including head coring (Freys) and the Beger’s procedures for inflammatory pancreatic head masses.
